Americas leader through this time was president Franklin D. Roosevelt! in my opinion Franklin D. Roosevelt was a peaceful man and did not want anything to do with war(but was willing to fight). He tried, with all his power to prevent war. He was frustrated because he wished to encourage Britain and France to rejoin their alliance as a disincentive against Hitler. he also wanted to prevent war in Europe. Doing so he led America in the " peace loving nations". Although our president wanted peace he was criticized from isolationist. The isolationist wanted clarification from Roosevelt. They criticized that distinguishing between " peace loving and " warlike " nations was not neutrality but taking sides. With all that saying Roosevelt had a great run as president helping us from the Great Depression was one of those ways. Even though he was criticized from one speech he will be remembered for his attitude towards Americas greatest trials.
